Ron DeFilippo is the owner and founder of The Swamp restaurant. The Swamp is a cultural icon of UF. Ron has been in Gainesville since he came to UF for school back in the 60’s. He spent some time in Italy and Atlanta, but eventually came back to start a TV station. In the time he has been in Gainesville he has invested in multiple real estate ventures. In 1994 he created The Swamp, and is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Playboy named The Swamp, as the Top College Sports Bar in 2011.
